Joanna is the founder of Indigo Eight Creative, based in Ramsgate and covering the whole of Kent. An interior designer with 30 years of experience working within all aspects of interiors, Joanna’s favourite projects are residential, ranging from individual rooms to whole houses. She has a love of meeting and working with homeowners who want to live in beautiful homes that reflect their own personalities and she works hard to get to know her clients and how they’d like their homes to feel before setting about with the design.
Joanna’s love of interiors and construction started early when her father, who’s an architect and builder, completely rebuilt their house. The project took most of her childhood from 6 to 20 years old and every weekend was spent working on the site (or home as her family called it) alongside the builders.
Having studied at Winchester Art School her love of colour and texture led to a freelance textile design career for interior design companies, which ran alongside a long career working with IKEA, starting with designing room-sets and working her way up to training the design teams and large-scale project management of the design and build of new stores.
In 2009 Joanna started Indigo Eight which has since taken her around the world working with various interior design companies in senior interior design and creative direction roles; the highlight of which was 5 years living in Shanghai in China and becoming Creative Director of an interior design brand in a role which involved training over 100 designers to design in a western style for the eastern market. Probably the most challenging 5 years of her life!
She has now returned to her home on the South East coast and very much enjoys working on projects in Kent and the South East of England.
