Jo has really transformed our house into a beautiful home. She has managed to guide us from a ‘safe, neutral paint colour choice’ to being bolder and prepared to take risks with colour choice style and design. Jo was recommended to us when we had a house fire, which although was terrible gave us the opportunity to remodel and completely redesign the interior. We are building a modern single-story dwelling in our back garden. All was going well up until the first fix when it became painfully obvious that we were out of our depth when it came to space planning, the placement of electrical sockets & switches, and the finish we would like to achieve in terms of interior design & style. Jo was recommended to us by a lighting designer for the electrical socket and switch placements. We sent Jo the architect's plans and after a video meeting with Jo, Jo visited us at our new build site to review our needs and to look at the new building. Jo reviewed the architect's plans and made practical suggestions changing several room sizes, wall positionings, and doorways to better suit real-life living rather than an architect's artistic vision. In an ideal world, we would have engaged with Jo at the same time as instructing the architect, but we were fortunate in that the building project was at a point where changes could easily be made. These suggestions were concisely captured in a to-scale ‘Space Planning’ document that we shared with the building contractor to make the relevant changes. Thereafter, Jo provided us with an 'Electrical & Data Layout' plan which we reviewed over a video conference call and sent to the electrician to complete the first fix electrical requirements. During the initial site meeting, Jo sat down with us for several hours to better understand our likes and dislikes regarding interior design, style, colours, furniture, and furnishings. This was a fascinating process whereby Jo showed us twenty-four styles of interior designs and captured not only our likes and dislikes, but also the furniture that we would be taking to the new building. A few days later Jo submitted a 'Style & Concept Plan,' by room which covered everything from wall and ceiling colours & coverings, types of soft furnishings and furniture, light fittings, and shapes, suggested placements of these, and for the furniture we would be taking with us. This final document has provided us with some excellent ideas as to how we will complete the interior design of our new house, and also provide the decorators with our chosen wall and ceiling colours.
