Your Architect will have focussed on the exterior look of your new house or extension for the planning process. Of course, beautiful looking houses are extremely important and kerb appeal can never be overrated. However, this concentration on the exterior elevations may not fully address the look, feel and functionality of the interior spaces in your home.
We understand that your objective is to create an interior environment that you and your family will love to live in and which works perfectly for all your family needs, as well as being wonderful aesthetically.
To start with we spend time getting to know you and understanding who your house is for, who will be living in your home, the functional requirements for each area, and the needs around furnishing, family and children, smart systems, heating solutions, media etc and any special ambitions for the space; an open plan kitchen, living area or a free-standing bathtub with a view for instance.
We work with your Architect’s plans (or we can arrange for them to be drawn for you) to review the internal flow and sizes of rooms. This includes the window and door locations, kitchen and bathroom layouts, corridors, pinch points and the general flow between them all.
Furniture is just as important; just putting some correct sized furniture, particularly beds, wardrobes, sofas etc into the plan can dramatically change how you see the space and how it will work for you. We will establish which furniture and furnishings are being kept, if any, and how you would like them to be incorporated into the new scheme.
Establishing these details up front will be invaluable to inform architectural and building control drawings and avoid changes later that could impact time and cost.
The Space Planning Service ranges from an informal verbal discussion and review of the plans to fully adapted architect’s Auto CAD drawings.
